About FM Dossier
FM Dossier started as a personal tool — a way to stop drowning in spreadsheets and actually read a Football Manager save. It’s built by DB.Football, a small team that has spent years building football data tools and playing Football Manager far past any reasonable bedtime. That combination — people who work with football data for a living and who actually play the game — is the whole reason the tool exists.
What FM Dossier does
FM Dossier reads your live FM26 save and turns it into something you can act on: player dossiers, squad-depth charts, role-suitability maps and cold-blooded value analysis. Instead of clicking through twenty screens to answer “is he any good, and do we already have better?”, you get the answer in seconds, in plain colour-coded data.
How it works — and what it doesn’t touch
The app reads your live save in read-onlymode, externally — it never injects a plugin or mod into the game, never edits your game, never alters your save files, and your data never leaves your machine unless you explicitly export it. There’s no account, no cloud upload of save data, and no scraping of anyone else’s work — everything you see is computed from your own save, on your own PC. If you want the detail, we wrote plain-English pages on how it works and the antivirus question.
The philosophy
Three rules drive every screen. Colour should mean data, not decoration. Fog of war should be honest — if the game doesn’t know a player’s true ability, neither should we pretend to. And the answer to a squad question should take seconds, not screens. We’d rather ship one view that’s genuinely useful than ten that look impressive in a screenshot.
Free, and why
FM Dossier is free for Windows. It’s a labour of love from a football-data team, and keeping it free keeps it honest — we answer to the people who use it, not to a paywall. If you want to help cover the bills you can support us on Ko-fi, but nothing is gated behind it.
Learn the game, not just the tool
A tool is only as good as the understanding behind it, so we maintain a growing library of in-depth FM26 guides — how attribute masking and fog of war actually work, what current vs. potential ability really means, how to read a scout report without fooling yourself, and more. Every guide is researched, cited, and written to be useful whether or not you ever install the app.
Who’s behind it
FM Dossier is operated by Solbizz Canarias S.L. (the company behind DB.Football), based in Spain. It is an unofficial tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sports Interactive or SEGA. Football Manager is a trademark of its respective owners.
